Good Evening All,
My name is LaTanya’ Bennett and I am apart of the Black Bikers of the bay area. We are a family of Motorcycle riders and Social Clubs. We are planning a STOP THE VIOLENCE WALK/RIDE for peace this coming Sunday August 21,2011 starting at 5 pm. We will meet at the East Bay Dragons club house and walk to where the young child was killed.
We have invited community leaders, churches, youth groups and family of fallen victims to participate…. I don’t know if you have a community board to where such an event can be posted and advertised…?
WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF YOUR ORGANIZATION….
Get to know all the attorneys before you protest!!!

Dear Mrs. Johnson
I’d like to see the establishment of a nation wide police and community police miss-conduct data base maintained in your son’s name showing:
Names and cumulative numbers of people who met death at police hands giving brief accounts what happened and providing links and references to news paper, radio stories and public records. It should be in both statistical and narrative hyper linked format. We hear of these all the time but then to many tragedies are lost to the public mind the in fog of time. As far as I know there are no living national statistics to remind us quantitatively how serious a matter this is.
A data base of wanton police killers, giving names, brief incident accounts, citations to public records of involvements in previous fatal police incidents, as well as in security and perhaps military places of employment. The purpose being to ensure that Johannes Mehserle and other killer cops seeking police jobs in new communities are prevented from ever again carrying a gun in the public’s name.
A community data base showing killings by criminals and gangs. This would eventually provide comparative statistics showing just how bad things are and spotlight where corrective actions are needed. My hope is that this will help our youth avoid pitfalls of violence and add perspective for them on the problems that they face and better equip all of us to improve the education and carriers of youth.
On a volunteer basis a quality search able data base shouldn’t cost a lot of money. Minister of Information JR, The Ratclifs of the Bay view Newspaper, Ella Baker Center and other institutions such as these all around the country must have hard drives full of such incident reports and data. Students could simply post current and or old stories to an Oscar Grant Foundation Database either in a wiki or web page format. Journalists could help clean these up while mining for news stories.
Finally I want to offer my own condolences to you for the loss of your son.
