RAPtivism highlights the ways in which global hip hop music and culture can actively contribute to universal efforts for freedom, justice, and equality by challenging apathy with awareness, ignorance with intelligence and oppression with expression. Humanity in Action!

Raptivism is Activism through conscious Rap, Spoken Word, and Poetry. Some of our leading young Raptivist will perform conscious Rap, Raptivism, to heighten our young people understanding for political involvement and revolutionary change.

The Oscar Grant Foundation teams with Raptivist in a Campaign to Raise Funds and Awareness of police brutality in our communities. The campaign will help raise awareness and funding in support of a Family First Crisis Response Team that will assist the family through the initial aftermath of a traumatic event caused by police violence and will assist the OGF and families to participate in the September 2013 Congressional Black Caucus Convention.

The Oscar Grant Foundation recognize the struggles families face when victims of police violence. “With the support of people in the community, we are able to provide funding, resources, and, most importantly, support to people and families facing the challenges of emotional injuries sustained at the hands of law enforcement officers.”

The Oscar Grant Foundation has been committed to making an impact in the communities where we live and work.

Is a singer, poet and self-proclaimed ‘RAPtivist’ (rap activist) hailing from Seattle, Washington / Yokohama, Japan. She has lived and engaged in hip hop communities in France, Japan, Morocco, England, South Africa, Senegal, India and Denmark. Leader of the ‘RAPtivism’ (rap activism) project, Aisha works to raise awareness around global intersections between hip hop and social justice.

Ras Ceylon
Coming straight out of the West Coast (Bay Area & Southern California) representing East Bay Politix & HungryBros.BoomSound, Ras Ceylon is an emcee, educator and organizer bringing revolutionary music, as hip-hop meets reggae dynamic and explosively conscious lyrics. “In addition to music, Ras Ceylon is an Oakland community activist working to empower youth on a number of issues around social justice and education. Also having worked and lived internationally in places such as Jamaica and Sri Lanka it is clear that Ras Ceylon lives the message he speaks about in his music.”

Malika Ubaka
Was born and raised in Oakland, California by parents in the entertainment industry, With her parents as inspiration and support, Malika started a Hip-hop group in the 1990s called “The Oaktown Girls” that included her Lil’ Sis Khaliah. In the Summer of 2004 Malika auditioned for P. Diddy’s “Making the Band 3″. Malika took a shot and made the cut. Malika was featured on the show for a whole season which ended in P. Diddy not forming a band but giving three of the seven finalists a second chance at Making The Band!! Malika was one of the girls chosen to continue in the competition.

Zar The Diplomat
Known for his Work with the bay area rap group The Scrayper boyz. He steps from behind the scenes to take a front row seat on his own debut solo project. Zar The Dip is known for his Raptivism in social issues concerning police brutality with his hit Pathetic Justice” (A Cry Against Police Brutality … and a soon to be release documentary C.O.P–Crimes Of Police. His Raptivism has inspired victim of police brutality families to greater height.
